Hanging Mountain Farm and Straw Bale Cafe

Hanging Mountain Farm, which is located at 188 North Road, Westhampton, MA 01027, has been in the Aloisi’s family now for three generations, starting with Leo’s father who worked here on the farm in the 1930s as a teenager. He purchased the farm, when it was still a working dairy farm back in 1947, from C.G. Loud. Leo and his three brothers were all raised and worked on the dairy farm until the cattle were sold in 1971 when Leo, the youngest, enlisted into the Army.

Leo purchased the farm, from his father, with his wife, Anita and their two daughters in 1983. Their daughters Jennifer & Missa were 5 & 7 years old when they moved to the farm from Enfield, Connecticut

A red barn at Hanging Mountain Farms, a three-generation-long producer of extra fine maple syrup, organic vegetables, hay, and the owners of the Strawbale Cafe.

The years have passed quickly and now the girls are grown and are undertaking projects to bring the farm into the world of Agri-tourism.

Our daughter Missa designed and built the building from 2002 to 2006 the year we opened. It is unique, in the fact that is built out of straw bales. It has a high energy factor and is very green in the materials used.

Here on the farm, many things occur on a daily basis. We grow organic (not certified) vegetables in the summer and offer them for purchase at our roadside self-serve stand. In addition to the vegetables, we also offer hay for sale that is grown, right here on the farm, Christmas Trees in the winter and Maple Syrup and Maple products all year round in our gift shop located with our Strawbale Cafe.

Hanging Mountain Farm is a third-generation working farm. We grow organic Vegetables, Christmas Trees, & Hay. All of our vegetables are offered for your enjoyment, on our self-serve roadside farm stand during the summer months. Then it’s time to tag or cut your Christmas tree from our large selection of Balsam, Fraser, and Douglas fir trees.

Our hours for serving breakfast are Saturday & Sunday from 8 am until 1 pm. Last seating is always at 12:45, and the kitchen closes promptly at 1 pm. There are no reservations taken, but if your party is larger than 6, we ask that you call the morning you are coming so we can prepare for your visit.
