The
Chester Theatre Company provides an intimate setting
in which audiences may view highly acclaimed professional
artists performing works that include both world premieres
and plays by local talent.
Founded in 1990 by actor, director, and former artistic
director of Ireland's Abbey Theater, Vincent Dowling, the
Chester Theatre is described by Jeffrey Borak of the The
Berkshire Eagle as "the little miracle".
Recent performances have included David Birney in Mark
Twain's "The Diaries of Adam and Eve", the Pulitzer
Prize-winning love story "Talley's Folly" by
Lanford Wilson, "The Belle of Amherst", "The
Gin Game" starring Kim Hunter, the American premiere
of Sebastian Barry's "Boss Grady's Boys",
