A half-mile foot trail along the top of the deep gorge gives dramatic views of rock walls and the East Branch of the Westfield River. An easy hiking and mountain bike pathway, River Road, runs along the east side of the river into Gilbert Bliss State Forest. A stone abutment, dating from Colonial times, once supported a bridge and toll gate that was part of the historic post road linking Boston and Albany. Fly fishing, hiking, and picnicking are popular.
